Aandhi ko Manoram Nritya

Aandhi ko Manoram Nritya

Drama is an art form that explores human conflict and tension. It generally takes the form of a story presented to an audience through dialogue and action. The story is conveyed using the elements of the theatre: acting, costumes, props, scenery, lighting, music, and sound.

Our school has take to watch drama which is based on teenagers life. Students of grade 8,9 and 10 along with 5 teachers were taken as audience. We were taken to Shilpee Theatre situated at Battisputali on 9th May, 2019. The name of our drama was "Aandhiko Manoram Nritya". The duration time of drama was One and half hour.  It was the drama based on daily struggles of adolescent.

This drama gave us the knowledge about teenagers. It was a live show. This drama showed how the teenagers are growing up with their friends in a bad company which may lead to wrong path. The problems continued when the students enter into adolescent where the mixed their feelings and mood swing ever once a while. This drama truely shows how students are involved in bad things because of peer pressure. This drama was literally related to all of the teenagers. They feel the pressure of studies and they started to do nonsense activites like smoking, taking drugs and falling in love. Nowadays, all the students are addicted to electronic gadgets instead of studying. As being a teenagers I got to know about various problems related to us.

One of the major parts of this project is field visit in local hotel to prepare Mo: Mo. In the hotel we went, the staffs gave us information about ingredients used in Mo: Mo, kima, pickle and also taught us how to give specified shape to Mo: Mos of   different types.
we got to know many this from feild visit.

 4) Amount Collection:
We first collected the required data and information from students of Nursery to Grade 10, teaching and non-teaching staffs. Through this, we found that there are altogether 463 members in the JM family. After that, we prepared notice and sent it to guardians. Next day, we collected the amount mentioned in the notice from each students and teachers. We arranged the amount in order and did calculation.

Group A and C were assigned the task of cutting vegetables. So, we first washed out the vegetables, peeled out them and cut them into small fine pieces. We too made paste of garlic and ginger.
   8)      Dough-making:
Firstly, we mixed the Maida and water in proper proportion in 3 or 4 batas. Then, we made dough from that proportion.

These were the activities that we did the day before the Tiffin day. Now, the activities we did on the Tiffin day are discussed below:

    1)      Preparation of pickle:
For the preparation of pickle, we first fried the peanuts and white til. Then, we heated the oil and fried the vegetables chopped the day before it with required seasonings. After that, we mixed it with peanuts and white til in the mixer. We added some lapsi to make it sour flavored. Aarati mam and and khem sir played the main role to make pickle.

 Preparation of kima:
For the preparation of veg kima, we first combined the 3 vegetables in a decchi and added in all the ingredients of the vegetable filing. We added required seasonings and mixed it well. We set it aside till it is ready to use. For chicken kima, we first combined all chicken and ingredients with seasonings in 2 batas and mixed it well. We set it aside till it is ready to use.
    3)      Preparation of Mo: Mo:

We first knead the dough for 10-15 minutes. We then made small ball from that dough and rolled it occasionally which gave it the shape of disc. While we were making disc our other friends filled the fillings in the disc. Some students added water to the base of the steamer and allowed it to come to rolling boil. They brushed some oil in the slotted portion to avoid the Mo: Mos sticking to the base. We then placed the Mo: Mos in it, avoiding over-crowding them. Vegetables one took about 12 minutes and chicken one about 12-15 minutes. Once done, we removed it carefully from the steamer and kept in hot case.

4)      Distribution of Mo: Mo:
To distribute Mo: Mos to each graders, some of the students holded the duty of distributing Mo: Mos to the teachers and students. They brought the students class wise and distributed Mo: Mos to them. After all the students and teachers were provided Mo: Mos, we students of grade 8 too tasted the Mo: Mos.

    5)      Management of solid wastes:
We all scattered and started to collect the wastes wrappers, materials and managed them properly in one place. Some swept the floor and some washed the utensils. After that, we collected our utensils brought from home and our school principal thanked us for organizing the Tiffin day. We were very happy and tired on that day.

                              Counclison:

Nepal – My Country My Pride

Nepal: My Country My Pride

my country my pride
My country Nepal is situated between two large countries China and India. According to the census of 2018 A.D., 29,756,197 people living in my country. The area of Nepal is 147,181 SQ.K.M. the density of population in urban regions is higher than in rural regions. Similarly, valleys and plains are more densely populated than hilly region.
The national flag of Nepal is unique of them all. It is the only flag in the world which is not rectangular in shape. The flag is in crimson red in color which signifies rhododendron which is the national flower of Nepal. The border is blue in color which signifies peace and harmony. Until 1962, the flag’s emblems, the sun, and the crescent moon had human faces which signify the unity of the country. The national flower and bird, rhododendron and Danfe respectively, the flag was plumed crown worn by the kings and crossed kukhris carried by the Gurkhas for their bravery. Nepal followed monarchy system until the people movement in 2063 BS.
Nepal is an agro-based country. About 80 percent of the people depend on agriculture. Some of the educated people are employed in other sectors such as teaching, office work, business etc. Although people belong to various social groups and religions, the real practice of ‘unity in diversity’. Most of the people in Nepal followed Hindu religion but people enjoy a right to other religion too. People speak the different language and enjoy different modes of cultures and traditions. In Nepal people respect each other’s religion and culture as well.
It is said that ‘hario ban Nepal ko Dhan’. Nepal seems to be beautiful because of the green forest. In the forest, there are wild animals. Many tourists come to watch them which help to increase the foreign currency.
Nepal is famous for natural beauties and gifts. Although Nepal is landlocked, the people from foreign countries are fond of visiting in Nepal. Nepal is famous for mountains, rivers, lakes, etc. The highest mountain peak in the world, Mt. Everest, lies in Nepal. Many tourists visit her every year. Through tourism, Nepal is able to earn foreign currency which can be used for development. Nepal is rich in water resources. Many rivers flow from high mountains twisting and turning around the hills and move through Terai.  Many brooks and streams serve the people in many ways. They are advantageous for irrigation, transportation, rafting, running hydro-electricity projects and so on.
The most amazing fact about Nepal is that it does not greet another person with a handshake or a hello, it rather joins their own hand and says Namaste which means I respect you as a person. Nepal is the neighboring country of India, thus Indians do the same when they meet one another. Another amazing fact about Nepal is related to food. If you ever come to Nepal as a tourist, you must try the famous food called ‘momo’.  It is a delicious dumpling made from flour and water filled with meat filling.
And how can we ever forget the birthplace of Lord Buddha? Lord Buddha was born in Lumbini at 500BC. It is a founder of the religion Buddhism which covers 9% of the total population. He had four noble truths about pain and sorrows. Also, he had eight right paths about how to live a proper life. He is still regarded as the one who found peace and how the world then has become.
Nepal is developing a country. About 70 percent of people are literate. The farmers are provided with the facilities of irrigation, modern fertilizers, improved seeds and modern method of farming. The facilities of electricity health care and other facilities are also increasing.
I feel proud to be the citizen of Nepal. We, Nepali people, respect each other. I do feel most of the people love the nation. We feel that mother and motherland are same. I do hope that our country Nepal will be the most famous country in the world.

MY TIHAR EXPERIENCE

Tihar

Tihar is a truly magical time in Kathmandu. I Imagine it’s comparable to Christmas in New York, though being from California, I wouldn’t really know. It’s colder here now at night and in the morning. The absence of street light is compensated by the houses decorated with exterior designs and flickering colors. Fireworks explode in the distance. Shop owners close their stores to spend time with their families and all around their is a certain atmosphere you can feel. Indian carolers sing songs outside of houses waiting for a tip, most are holding instruments. I would see them while rushing home to experience the new celebrations my family prepared every night. Without diving deep into the history of the Holiday, Id like to briefly detail what I came home to:

On the first day of Tihar my “aama” said to me, we are not celebrating Tihar this year. Their had been a death in the family and being a devout Tibetan Buddhist, she doesn’t believe in celebrating outwardly like the Hindu festivals encourage. With some convincing from my  sister ,my Nepali mom agreed to give me a taste of Tihar and struggled to make last minute arrangements.

On the second day of Tihar my family and I put a “tika” on our dog “Tantre”. In the words of my sister,”We spend all year kicking the dog and neglecting it. This is the day we give back to it and worship it’s every move.” The ceremony involved giving the dog a bath (which he didn’t like) and oil being flicked at him. When it came time to put the “tika” on his forehead he bit my  mom and ran away. This would have been a funny incident but the dog is an adopted street dog and my “aama” was worried about the possibility of rabies. She went to the clinic later to discover she couldn’t afford the rabies shot. She is fine now but the relationship between her and “Tantre” is still tense.

The third day of Tihar is Laxmi Puja. On this day i came home to a flower design where our front gate is. From the flower their was a streak of brown mud, which i later found out is diluted cow dung mixed with red clay. The streak ran through the house to the beautiful shrine room on the third floor. It is disrespectful to step over the mixture. My  mom brought me to the third floor where we ate sweet breads and fruit. Without explanation i realize this can sound complicated but I want to convey the constant state of confusion i was in while celebrating.
On the last day of Tihar I had an emotional ceremony exchanging “tika” with my  sister. The purposes is for long life and to physically act out the bond between brother and sister. It was similar to the procedure used for the dog. After the “puja” or worship we ate a ridiculous amount of sweets and food. My aama prepared a Nepali feast the likes of which I have never seen but felt like the early dinners Im used to during the holiday season. All together my experience with Tihar was very valuable. It really completed my Kathmandu experience seeing it in this light, and I am grateful to my instructors and my Nepali family for making it possible. I’ve included some pictures to show I am not crazy and most of this actually happened.

Dashain Assignment

        Dashain expercience

My Dashain went very nice and enjoyable. I really enjoyed celebrating dashain. As we know, dashain is the main festival of nepali pepole.  The first nine days of Dashain symbolize the battle which took place between the different manifestations of Durga and Mahishasura. The most important days of dashain are:

 Day 1. Ghatasthapana

It means placing a kalasha or a pot, which symbolizes Durga. Ghaṭasthāpanā falls on the first day of the festival. On this day the Kalash is filled with holy water and is then sewn with barley seeds. Then the Kalash is put in the center of a rectangular sand block. The remaining bed of sand is also seeded with grains. The priest then starts the puja by asking Durga to bless the vessel with her presence. This ritual is performed at a certain auspicious time which is determined by the astrologers. The goddess is believed to reside in the vessel during navratri.

 Day 7: Phulpati
Phulpati is a major celebration occurring on the seventh day of Dashain. Traditionally, on this day, the royal Kalash, banana stalks, Jamara and sugar cane tied with red cloth is brought by Brahmins from Gorkha, a three-day walk, about 169 kilometres (105 mi) away from the Kathmandu Valley. Hundreds of government officials gather together in the Tundikhel grounds in conventional formal dress to witness the event. The king used to observe the ceremony in Tundikhel while the Phulpati parade was headed towards the Hanuman Dhoka royal palace.

 Day 8: Maha Astami

An eighth day is called as 'Maha Asthami'. This is the day when the most fierce of Goddess Durga’s manifestations, the bloodthirsty Kali, is appeased through the sacrifice of buffaloes, goats, hens and ducks in temples throughout the nation.

 Day 9: Maha Nawami
The ninth day of dashain is called Mahanavami, "the great ninth day". This is the last day of Navaratri. Ceremonies and rituals reach the peak on this day. On this day, official military ritual sacrifices are held in one of the Hanuman Dhoka royal palaces, the Kot courtyard. On this occasion, the state offers the sacrifices of buffaloes under the gunfire salutes. This day is also known as the demon-hunting day because members of the defeated demon army try to save themselves by hiding in the bodies of animals and fowls.

Day 10: Dashami
The tenth day of the festival is the 'Vijayadashmi'. On this day, a mixture of riceyogurt and vermilion is prepared. This preparation is known as "tika". Often dashain tika time[19] is different every year. Elders put this tika and jamara which is sown in the Ghatasthapana on the forehead of younger relatives to bless them with abundance in the upcoming years. The red also symbolizes the blood that ties the family together. Elders give "Dakshina", or a small amount of money, to younger relatives at this time along with the blessings.

Day 15:Kojagrat Purnima
The last day of the festival which lies on the full moon day is called 'Kojagrat' Purnima. The literal meaning of Kojagrat is 'who is awake'. On this day Goddess Laxmi who is believed to be the goddess of wealth is worshiped as it believed that Goddess Laxmi descends on earth and showers whoever is awake all night with wealth and prosperity. People enjoy the night by playing cards and much more.

                                   Expercience

I went to my mama ghar kapan to put tika. It was really hard for us to go there because we were not getting any  buses & taxi, so some of us went in bike. At kapan we enjoyed by playing cards & swing with my brother and sister. We also felt delighted after meeting our grandmother. So I am going to miss these things that i have done in this year.

I put tika from my elders hand and jamara in forehead, we get blessing from elders and also money. I went to lots of places to put tika, i got blessing from my grandfather, grandmother and other elders. They gave me blessing for my long life, good study, and for my bright future. They also gave me money and i kept some in my piggybank and rest of them as my pocket money.  I also played swing, it was little scary but i really enjoyed it.tis time in the sky was full of kites.  I also played card with my cousins and my elder sister. Though i lost but i had fun playing it. My mom made varieties of food like: meat, chicken biriyani, sel roti, pullav, curry and many other. They tasted so yummy, all of them were great but my favourite one was meat because its probably made in dashain. And its not made commonly, so i really loved eating meat. So I am going to miss these things that i have done in this year. Also i cant just wait for next year to come and again enjoy these moment. So, my experience in dashain was very nice.
